Altar Servers

Therefore, in the liturgy, you are much more than simple “helpers of the parish priest.” Above all, you are servers of Jesus Christ, of the eternal High Priest. Thus, you, altar servers, are called in particular to be young friends of Jesus. Be determined to go deeper and to cultivate this friendship with Him. You will discover that in Jesus you have found a true friend for life.
Pope John Paul II

These 65-plus boys and girls serve Jesus Christ at His holy altar as well as the community of St. Marys. They are a constant, visual reminder of our call to serve God and one another. This is a position of great responsibility that requires dedication to the Lord and dependability, but is also a source of joy and fulfillment. Altar servers may start to serve when they reach the 4th grade. Announcements of openings are made via the bulletin or orally during Mass. Additionally, you may contact Don Peris if you are interested.  There are  training sessions throughout the year for new recruits, as well as specially-planned social activities for all servers throughout the year.
